Handicapped Hunts

I have enjoyed guiding handicap hunters for over a decade. I had the pleasure of having Frank Williams hunt with us for this time period and we both learned a lot from each other. His wife Margaret has donated the handicapped equipment to the lodge, our collective thanks goes out to her.  We learned how to adapt our hunting techniques for Deer and Turkey to maximize his comfort and success. We adapted over the years and made changes as needed. We stay in constant touch with texts and handheld radios, and when applicable we stay with the hunter at all times. We have with the significant help of John Chestnut, developed a camouflage technique to hide everything from wheelchairs to personal vehicles. If they have there own transportation they may choose weather to hunt antler restricted or unrestricted. If not they have to hunt the restricted property, which is where the lodge is located.
Again We do not provide caregivers, if you need one you must bring one

The Hunts

Deer

We have two types of deer hunting. One is antler restricted, which means that the bucks must be at least a mature 6pt to shoot, and antler unrestricted which means as long as it is legal 3”s on 0ne side you may harvest it. Upon booking your hunt you may choose to split your time on these lands or just hunt one of them. The restricted area is right at 1000acres and is surrounded by other folks with serious management practices. We only allow 4 hunters on the restricted area at a time. If you make a mistake on the restricted area then I will not fine you, but you will loose your right to hunt on the restricted area. The unrestricted areas are a series of smaller tracts of land that have plenty of deer, but are hard to restrict antler sizes on because of there sizes and neighbors. We allow you to harvest 2 deer on a 3 day hunt and 3 deer on a six day hunt.

The seasons are set by the state and are; archery only Sept.15th-Oct.1 Archery & Mussel loader Oct.1st-Oct.10th  Rifle Oct.11th- Jan.1st.

Either sex days are set in June every year and vary. Doe tags are available and can be used at anytime after the first scheduled either sex day. They are $5 each with a limit of 2 and can be purchased at the same time as your license. If you do not have doe tags you may only take does on either sex days.

Preserve Hunts

We operate a preserve, on land that we do not deer or turkey hunt on, for Quail, Pheasant, and Chucker We use well trained dogs and seasoned guides for these hunts. We do not require a minimum # of birds to be used and offer these hunts from Oct. 1st through Mar. 20th. Since these hunts overlap deer season we can combine these hunts, often adding a bird hunt during the mid day break and you don’t even lose deer hunting time. We use a variety of dogs for these hunts, English Pointer, English Setter, German Shorthairs, and Brittany Spaniels, just to name a few.

Wild Quail Hunts

These hunts will be offered in January, and February, on Saturdays and Sundays only.   Each hunter will be allowed to take only legal limits of birds on these hunts, with 2-4 hunters in a group.  Only 2 groups will be allowed on the property at any given time, and only 2 hunters/covey rise/group.  Limits are not guaranteed since, but ample opportunities will be there since we find an average of 8 converys/half day of hunting.  You may bring and hunt with your own dog.  A guide will still be provided.  A 50% deposit is required to hold these dates for you.

WILD HOG HUNTS

We hunt over bait when deer and turkey seasons are out, so the months we hunt are February and June. This gives the hogs time to find the bate and us to determine which ones are being used. We have hunted this way ourselves for years and now want to share the fun with others. Because this is a new hunt offered here, there are dates this June and next February still available.

Turkey

These are guided hunts and our populations are outstanding. In South Carolina you can hunt all-day during the month of April.   In the mornings we hunt Toms as long as we have action, which can sometimes be until early afternoon. We will go back out in the afternoon as the hunter wants. The afternoons and evenings are usually spent sitting in ground blinds on food plots, creek bottoms, or other food sources. This will vary by the day, by the turkeys.
